Program Overview
This program was created in 1998 to provide all Department employees' confidential counseling on personal, spiritual and/or family matters. The Chaplains
visit sick or injured Department employees at home or in the hospital, and assist the Troopers in making death notifications. The truly wonderful
thing about our Chaplains is that they genuinely care about each and every one of us. The Lead Chaplain, Raisa Martinez, presented the following opening
prayer at our 2001 Retirement ceremony. Her words of encouragement and recognition made all those present feel a sense of accomplishment for their years
of personal sacrifice in serving the citizens of Louisiana.
Almighty God, our Creator and Redeemer,
It is a privilege to stand before these men and women whose dedication to their calling makes our State the best place to live and raise our families.
Remind them daily that they are the standard You have raised to stem the tide of evil, and surround them with Your protection.
I ask for Your continued blessings upon all of them, and especially upon those who are retiring from the front lines today. Reassure them, Father, that their sacrifice and their dedication lives on
as others follow their example. Strengthen them and encourage them during this time of transition in their lives and fill them with Your peace; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
