Lt. Colonel Murphy Paul, Deputy Superintendent
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation is responsible for the investigation of criminal activity, intelligence gathering, and case and technical support in the State of Louisiana. This program is made up of, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Special Investigations Division, and the Gaming Enforcement Division. The Bureau of Investigations is divided into three regions and each of the three divisions is represented throughout the state.
Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Murphy Paul is a 19 year veteran with the Louisiana State Police and currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of the Bureau of Investigation. LTC Paul has held assignments in Support Services, Internal Affairs, Narcotics, Detectives, Criminal Intelligence, and Patrol.
LTC Paul represents the Superintendent, Col Mike Edmonson, on several Boards and Commissions; Regional Counter-Drug Training Academy (RCTA), the LA Governor's Drug Policy Board, and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Board. LTC Paul is a P.O.S.T./FBI certified instructor, a graduate of the FBI National Academy (223rd Session) and he received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA.
LTC Paul has been the recipient of numerous commendations and awards including the two Professional Excellence Awards, three Unit Citations one Louisiana Emergency Service award, and a Meritorious Service Award.
