DPS Corporal John Kendall

On August 9, 2011 DPS Corporal Johnny Kendall was killed in a three-car crash in Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish.

Corporal Kendall was driving his state-issued 2005 Chevrolet Impala I-12 east when he ran off the road to the left, crossed the median, entered the westbound lanes of I-12 and struck a westbound 2007 Chevrolet “dually” . The pickup also struck a westbound 2006 International tractor-trailer.  After impact with the pickup, Kendall, who was not restrained when the crash occurred, was ejected from his unit and sustained fatal injuries. 

At the time of the crash, Corporal Johnny Kendall was 64 years-old and had been a DPS Officer for seven years and nine months.  Corporal Kendall had also served as a United States Marine in Vietnam and was a retired Louisiana State Police Sergeant of twenty-two years and ten months.
