Trooper First Class Victor Schilleci, IV Uniformed Trooper of the Year This year's recipient of the 2003 Uniformed Trooper of the Year is Trooper First Class Victor Schilleci. Trooper First Class Victor Schilleci came to Louisiana State Police in January of 1998. The son and grandson of former law enforcement officers, Trooper First Class Schilleci joined the State Police with a degree in computer engineering, a minor in mathematics, and a background in aircraft, airframe, electronics, and avionics. From the time he completed his FTO training, Trooper First Class Schilleci displayed an exceptional aptitude for law enforcement work. He has a knack for locating and apprehending felons, recovering illegal narcotics and stolen property along the way. This hard work earned him the Blue Max Award in 2001. 2002 was a benchmark year for Trooper First Class Schilleci with the seizure of $725,000 in U. S. currency, the recovery of nearly $100,000 in stolen property and over 100 pounds of marijuana. 2003 has not gone without its rewards for his hard work. Within the past year, Trooper First Class Schilleci was responsible for the seizure of approximately $225,000 in currency destined for the drug trade, as well as over 1,025 pounds of marijuana. He recovered over $20,000 in stolen property, and made numerous felony arrests. In addition to this excellent record of servicing the public and fighting crime, Trooper First Class Schilleci has recently completed the five necessary courses to become a certified Accident Reconstructionist. Outside of his normal job responsibilities, Trooper First Class Schilleci has been active in his community through his support of the Troop B Grant-A-Wish Program through raising funds during the Annual Fishing Rodeo and Grant-A-Wish 5K Run. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the American Military Heritage Foundation which is deeply involved in programs and activities directed toward the acquisition, preservation and exhibition of all military artifacts.
