Special Crimes
The Louisiana State Police’s Special Crimes initiative is focused on child exploitation criminal investigation, identification, and capture of sexual predators using the internet and other electronic media devices to entice, solicit, or coerce children into sex acts .
Detectives assigned to the Special Crimes initiative focus on child exploitation cases through pro-active investigations, reactive complaints of sexual abuse of children, and the education of the public, parents, educators and civic organizations.
To accomplish these objectives, the Louisiana State Police has obtained valuable investigative techniques and equipment specifically designed to seek out these violators using the internet in the commission of their crimes. The Louisiana State Police is committed to identifying these violators and removing them from the community where they pose a defined and imminent threat to the children of Louisiana. Through training, state of the art equipment, and coordination with local and federal law enforcement to continue, the Louisiana State Police will strive for its goal of Public Safety.
Nine Criminal Investigations Division field offices have troopers assigned specifically to the investigation of child sexual predators and child exploitation criminals.
