Drug Identification, Trends, and Behavioral Influences

(Formerly Patrol Officers Response to Street Drugs)

Seminar Description: This four and ½ day course focuses on street-level narcotics enforcement by uniformed patrol, corrections, probation, fish and game, and all other enforcement officers who possess arrest authority, including military police. Some topics covered are:  In-depth coverage of the seven drug categories; to include Drug Abuse Recognition (D.A.R.), Recognition of drug symptoms, Drug Paraphernalia, Dangers of confronting subjects under the influence of drugs, Legal issues and coverage of all areas of warrantless searches, Preliminary assessments of a subject s speech, breath, appearance, demeanor, behavior, etc., Examinations of the subject s eyes, vital signs, physical and psychological evaluations and therefore based on these examinations and on other evidence that may emerge, the trained student can reach reasonably accurate conclusions concerning the general category of drug used or medical condition that has impaired the suspect.

There is an on-site cafeteria for breakfast and lunch or there are several options near the Training Academy
