This training includes strategies for relating and working with the mentally ill population, including but not limited to effective communication strategies and active listening techniques, recognizing and differentiating between the personality disorders and psychotic disorders with the goal of heightening law enforcement personal safety issues and minimizing the dangers to responding officers.

Instructor:
Dr. Scott W. Allen is a licensed clinical psychologist and supervisor of the Psychological Services Section of a major metropolitan police department. He is a consultant to several federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and DEA. He has many publications in the area of law enforcement, especially pertaining to police suicide and successful crisis negotiations and post trauma.
