Troop I - Child Safety Seat Inspections

Child Safety Seat Inspections will be conducted every Wednesday at Troop I from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., or by appointment. Please call Trooper Stephen Hammons at 337-262-1917. You may also e-mail him at to schedule an appointment. Troopers want to emphasize the importance of protecting your child while in a motor vehicle by having a weight/age appropriate child safety seat correctly installed. Many injuries can be prevented by having a properly installed child seat.

Child Safety Seat Requirements

Age/Size	Type of Restraint
Birth to 1 year or weighs less than 20 pounds	Rear-facing child safety seat
At least 1 year to 4 years or weighs at least 20 pounds but less than 40 pounds	Forward-facing child safety seat
At least 4 years to 6 years and weighs at least 40 pounds but less than 60 pounds	Child booster seat
At least 6 years and weighs more than 60 pounds	Safety belt or child booster seat
