Lt. Colonel Frank Besson

Lt. Colonel Frank Besson is a 24-year veteran with Louisiana State Police. Lt. Colonel Besson, a native of Grand Isle, LA, earned an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Nicholls State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University in Alexandria. He began his career with Louisiana State Police in 1999 as a patrol Trooper assigned to Troop C in Houma, LA. Lt. Colonel Besson has held career assignments in Patrol, Support Services, Crisis Response, and Operational Development. Prior to his promotion to the rank of Major, he served as the Commander of Troop C in Patrol. As the Major over Transportation Safety Services and Crisis Response, he oversaw the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Weights Enforcement Unit, the Emergency Service Unit (HAZ-MAT), the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), the SWAT Team, the Mobile Field Force Team, and the Air Support Unit. 

Lt. Colonel Besson has over 29 years of law enforcement experience where he previously served as a Grand Isle Police Officer and a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Deputy. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and a recipient of numerous commendations and awards, including Professional Excellence, Meritorious Service Award, and Unit Citations.
