Evidence Receiving Unit

The Evidence Receiving Unit is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all pieces of evidence at the Crime Lab.  All evidence submitted into the Crime Lab is received and stored in the evidence vault until logged out by a forensic scientist.  After completion of the analysis, the evidence is returned to the submitting agency.

The unit has available, upon request, the “Evidence Handling Guide.”  This document can assist agencies in the proper collection of evidence.

Law enforcement agencies needing to make an appointment to deliver evidence should contact the Crime Lab at (225) 925-6223.
